What does 32 Paths mean?

10 Sephirot and Tree of Life Diagram

32 Paths is a reference from one of the first Kabbalistic works, the Sefer Yetzirah (Book of Formation). The famous opening words of the book are in part as follows: “By thirty-two mysterious paths of wisdom Yah has engraved all things”…

In Kabbalah, the Thirty Two Paths of Wisdom are traditionally understood to be the Ten Sephirot and the 22 paths connecting them on the Tree of Life Diagram. You can see the 10 spheres and 22 paths in the image. The 22 Pathways also refer the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet; the vibrations from which everything in creation is named and serves as the celestial code or blueprint for the cosmos.

In simple terms, the paths show the flow of light and consciousness from the unfiltered Light of the Creator into our physical world (and back-up again) through 10 distinct energies, each with sub-energies to help us optimize our actions to achieve a spiritual correction or change our karma.

On a more practical basis, 32 Paths is meant to evoke the idea of multiple spiritual paths (i.e. Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Astrology, Plant Medicine, etc.) that all lead to the same enlightened understanding of unity.

Namaste, Shalom, Peace and Love,
